All About Galega

Name/s: Galega
Species: Feral Pigeon
History: Galega was passed to us by a fellow pigeon rescuer. It is likely he was attacked by a cat and suffered frankly quite horrific wounds to his wings.
Diagnosis: Galega had extensive soft tissue damage to one wing and the wounds were old and full of scab and debris. It took several months of daily wound care to get the wounds clean. During that process it also transpired one of his wings was broken, the bone was literally shattered and fragments were in the wounds. The soft tissue damage healed well but the missing wing fragments mean Galega can’t fly very well.
Sex: Male
Age: Older adult
