Volunteer Agreement

• Agree with our ethos that all people and animals are equal, and reject all prejudice
• Are passionate about animals and wildlife
• Have considered whether you can offer a regular, long-term commitment
• Will always treat trust volunteers and supporters and those using our services with respect, consideration and appreciation
• Will act in a professional manner, embracing and personifying the values of the trust when representing us publicly
• Will carry out your role to the best of your abilities
• Will keep in touch with the trust, notifying us of any change of contact details
• Will inform the trust, giving as much notice as possible, if you are unable to complete a task or no longer wish to be involved with a project

• Care for our animals in accordance with the trust’s care sheet for that species
• Notify the trust of any change in contact details within 48 hours
• Not pass the animals to anyone other than an authorised trust representative without express permission
• Allow the trust the right, by prior arrangement, to inspect the animals at any time during their stay
• Ensure the health and safety of the animals at all times by ensuring they are contained securely, have access to appropriate food and water, and are not exposed to extreme temperatures, other pets, or anything which might cause them harm
• Seek prompt veterinary attention for the animals if sick or injured, in the knowledge that the trust will reimburse expenses incurred in a timely manner. Decisions to euthanase animals belonging to the trust should usually only be made by Sarah or Dave other than in an emergency and on veterinary advice to relieve immediate suffering
• Relinquish custody of the animals to a trustee immediately upon request
• Where appropriate, inform your motor insurance company that you are using your car in the act of volunteering in order to ensure adequate cover

• Regard all information you have access to or are given as a result of your volunteering as confidential unless advised otherwise
• In no way divulge, copy, release, sell, loan, review, alter or destroy any such information except as properly authorised within the scope of your volunteer position
• As required by law, comply with the provisions of the Data Protection Act of 1998.
• Not retain any copies of confidential information accessed as part of your volunteer role should you cease at any time for be a volunteer of the trust
