The Starlight Trust is an animal welfare and rescue organisation based in Surrey

Name/s: Eden
Species: Feral Pigeon
Gender: Unknown
Age: Eden is likely an older bird, probably double figures
History Eden was found in Kingston. At some point at least several weeks ago, his feet became tangled in string. The string bound his feet together and wrapped round his toes causing painful constriction injuries. Obviously this limited his movement and ability to find food.

As a result of the stress, he has developed quite severe coccidiosis. This has caused diarrhoea and, coupled with his reduced mobility, basically he is totally covered in his own faeces as well as general dirt. He is filthy and the feathers on his underside are matted and damaged.

Unsurprisingly all this made him a target for another bird to attack. The feathers have been plucked from his tail, back and left wing. The wounds are quite well healed so this was actually probably a week or so ago. His left wing is sore and stiff but not broken.

But he survived all that! This pigeon has some serious spunk! He has a long road ahead of him but if determination plays any part, he’ll make it.
